kentucky derby attire

Derby Day is coming! Am I up to date on my horse racing stats this year? Eh, not really. I won’t be at Churchill Downs but am so excited that while we are down in Tulum celebrating my friend’s wedding weekend- we’ll also be celebrating Derby Day! I really can’t resist a themed party. Especially one that lets my inner prep shine! Definitely need to find the perfect outfit for this poolside shindig.

I love the pastel colors, big hats, and bow ties for the gentlemen.  Since we’ll be in Mexico- I want to make sure I won’t be too warm in my outfit either!

Here are some of my favorite ideas below:

shop til ya drop

Help! Spring has sprung (just about) and I can’t stop shopping for warmer weather & brighter colored pieces.

I recently went through my closet to purge items that either no longer fit or just plain needed to go. At almost 25, something I wore in high school probably shouldn’t be in the rotation any longer… so goodbye American Eagle pullover! I took a big bag home over Easter weekend for my much-younger-but-not-so-much-shorter sister to peruse to see if anything fits her. If not, my aunt will be listing some of the pieces on Ebay!
So what should you do with your hand-me-downs? If you don’t know anyone who might want them, I highly suggest either dropping off at a local donation center or Goodwill. For trendier items that you might want to get some cash for, try Plato’s Closet or Ebay.
Here are some pieces I’m eyeing to replenish my wardrobe. As the saying goes- Out with the old, in with the new!

Pssstt.. have you shopped at Red Dress Boutique yet? My friend Courtney recently introduced me to this adorable shop started by Diana Harbour! I have my eye out there for a few dresses for my Tulum vacation..

navy & white

My current fashion obsession this spring is navy and white. I can’t get enough of it… Which is fitting since I graduated from Penn State.

Navy and white are such a classic color combo. You can add accessories with a pop of a bright color for a more modern look, or keep it simple with some nude pumps and pearls.

Here are some pieces I’m eyeing to add to my wardrobe this spring:

wedding season gifts

Wedding season is almost upon us and you know what that means- lots of bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and engagement parties will start anytime now.

Most couples will register at least with one major retailer for things they want, but what about for the couple that has everything? Or if you really would prefer a more sentimental gift than a blender. If you know the couple really well and know others will likely buy up their registry, personalized gifts can be a thoughtful alternative.

Two of my favorite places to shop for a little more out-of-the-box and thoughtful gifts are Thirty-One Gifts and Uncommon Goods. My mom is a consultant for Thirty-One Gifts so I have been familiar with their products for a few years now. All of their bags are high quality and durable. Plus they offer tons of options for fonts and colors for their personalized embroidery. Your options are really endless!

Here are a few of my favorite wedding inspired gifts from Thirty-One.

Uncommon Goods has some very unique gifts. Many are artist created and they have a lot of options that you can personalize. I love these couple and wedding gifts below.

I can’t be the only one who is really getting sick of the cold, snow, and general bleh that has taken over the Northeast this winter.

coco-nuts for sbucks

I’ll admit it. I love stopping by Starbucks for the occasional chai or iced coffee. Maybe it’s the green straw? Or the way the baristas can never seem to spell my name right? Whatever it may be, I present my Starbucks gold card proudly whenever I make it in.. since surprising as it may sound there are no convenient locations for me to pop in on my commute.

Interesting news on the horizon for this coffee house giant. Vegan/paleo friends, rejoice! Starting tomorrow Starbucks be offering coconut milk as a dairy alternative!

Happy sipping! Let’s see what a coconut chai latte will taste like.. maybe a new fav to add to the lineup?

new snacks: love with food

Well readers, I’m at it again. Just ordered Love with Food from Rue La La.

I had heard of this box before so I am anxious to see what yummy snacks we get to try over these next six months- plus I feel great knowing that my purchase will enable 6 meals to be donated to a hungry child in the US.

Here’s what I know so far: Love with Food is a snack subscription box with three different boxes to choose from– Tasting Box, Deluxe Box, Gluten Free Box. For each box purchased they will donate at least one meal to a food bank here in America. In each box there will be unique snacks that are organic or all natural. Boxes will follow a theme monthly.

Looks like my first box will arrive in March. Stay tuned for our thoughts!

If you are interested in trying this box for a discount, check out Rue La La’s sale ending soon!

As a referral from me, my friends are eligible for one free box trial here!
